Green Light Go isn't new to this — we're true to this. Founded by Dan and Shelley Hanes. Dan brings nearly 15 years as an Owner, Instructor, Instructor Trainer, and Master Examiner through Washington State Department of Licensing — helping thousands of students become confident, safe drivers. Shelley brings nearly 40 years of healthcare administration experience, ensuring every family's experience is handled with professionalism and care. We've seen it all and taught through it all.

Programs designed for teens getting their first license AND adults learning to drive at any age. Our Basic Driver Education course is required for 15-17 year olds and open to everyone. Check out our Private In-Car Only Lessons options for adults as well. Everyone's welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

In Washington State, you can enroll in classroom instruction at age 15. To get your learner's permit and begin behind-the-wheel training, you must be at least 15½ years old. We'll help you understand exactly where you are in the process and what comes next. For full details, see WA DOL teen driver requirements.

The bundle is the full package: 30 hours of in-person classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training, 1 observation session, plus your knowledge exam AND skills exam. We even provide the vehicle for your driving test. It's everything you need, bundled together with a $20 discount.

Not at this time. All classroom instruction is currently in-person at our Tacoma Area location. We have future plans to expand with technology-based virtual options — join our waitlist to stay updated!

For teens in the full bundle, the classroom portion typically runs over a few weeks, followed by your behind-the-wheel sessions. Total timeline depends on scheduling, but most students complete everything within 2-3 months. Adults doing private lessons follow our structured program at a pace optimized for learning.

Absolutely! There's no wrong age to learn to drive. We work with adults of all ages and backgrounds — whether you're new to the country, never needed a license before, or just want to build your confidence. Our private lessons are designed following our proven program.
